Lemmy Kilmister - Motorhead
there is no escape - don’t make me destroy you
I love this (okay, well, not actually love this because it is kind of harrowing and morbid) because I think we see so much of who Luke is in these few shots. He’s in unbelievable pain, he is in total fear of his life, and yet is bravely staring straight into that harbinger of evil. The very first thing he does, even before expressing his pain, is making sure that he looks straight at Vader. There is a type of defiance there, with Luke refusing to go completely submissive. He knows he has lost, he knows there is nowhere left for him to go, and he is not going to give his opponent the satisfaction of relishing in that. Beaten but not broken.
I just think Mark acted this entire scene out so well. There are little touches he does that aren’t fully appreciated. His eyes in this short moment tell so much (and this is true for almost all of the duel - Luke’s eyes convey so much and essentially becomes the main actor of the scene, emotionally).
